Good Sam Pastoral Care Team
The Good Samaritan Pastoral Care Team Ministry Program is designed to complement the other church ministries by extending personal pastoral care and support. We have been concerned about being able to extend personal pastoral care to all of our growing church family. Our current ministries to the children, youth and adults are strong, supported by many dedicated members, and we are very grateful for every one of them. This program extends the ministry gifts of our own members to our brothers and sisters in Christ.
Our Pastoral Care Team Ministry can be described through four responsibilities:
- Prayer - to pray daily for each assigned family.
- Availability - to be available to come alongside to share burdens and prayer requests as appropriate.
- Contact - to exhibit concern for each family by maintaining regular contact, possibly beginning with a home visit.
- Example - to strive to model the way of living the Christian life.
A Pastoral Care Team member is not: an ordained minister; a preacher (
although some may have the skills to preach and teach); a theologian (
as the lay pastors come from a variety of backgrounds and represent only the love and the sacrifice of Christ for our salvation); a psychologist; nor a marriage or family counselor.
Pastoral Care Team members are volunteers who commit themselves to be sources of support and encouragement to their brothers and sisters in Christ. They do this in an organized way under the pastoral direction of Pastor Jeff and the leaders of Good Samaritan Church.
